FAQ: When using Current Measure mode, what happens when the current measurement exceeds the current rating of my N6780 series SMU?

When the current being measured by the N6781A-N6786A modules is exceeding the 3.06 A limitation, the power module will go into compliance mode, which can be either positive or negative current limit. Once the power module is in current limit, it will no longer be regulating at zero volts. The voltage across the open circuit will start to climb until the module's hard OVP is tripped which is around 8.5V. When the hard OVP trips, the output will open.
